It’s your turn
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. (1Peter 3:15-16)
Greeting Disciples of Jesus!
Well it’s been almost 4 years now that I have been sending out devotionals every Monday morning. Almost 200 have been written. In them I share spiritual truths that the Lord has shown me from His word. I know that I am not the only Christian thing you read – you listen to sermons, read books and other devotionals, listen to songs, etc. etc. etc. Your heads, like mine, are full of truth about God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son. To be honest, we don’t need another sermon or devotional. We have taken so much in that if we don’t release some soon, we are going to explode. So, it’s your turn to release something to someone that will encourage them to turn to Jesus. The world is in a really bad state! Confusion, fear, uncertainty, deception, lies, etc. are permeating our culture/world. People need Jesus!!! You have Him!!!
Yesterday I was reading 2Corinthians 4. When I Got to verse 4, something broke inside of me: “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Satan is twisting the truth about Jesus, and making the church look bad, even evil. Is that a reason to be silent…no! People more than ever need to see the light of the gospel that displays the glorious Christ! Friends, they won’t hear without someone to tell them, even explain to them who Jesus is and why He is worth following/surrendering your life to. So, it’s your turn!
Can you write who Jesus is to you, how He has changed your life, and tell someone why He is worth following? Try to write one thing about Jesus that you want people to know…like salvation from the coming wrath, or forgiveness of ones sins by His sacrificial death on the cross – He took our punishment/penalty for sin. Or, how about the joy, peace, and love you found when Jesus came in to your heart! Is it good news to you, the best news ever? Than share it!!! You probably have no problem sharing the bad news of all the catastrophes that are happening in the world. But what about the greatest love the world has ever known…God dying on a cross for me! If you can write one thing, you can write three, then five reasons why Jesus is the most important person in your life (if He is???). If you can’t, then spend some time with Jesus, ask Him to help you. Then pray for boldness and go to a family member, a co-worker or a total stranger and let it be known that you are a follower of Jesus and share what He means to you. Take the challenge! Let some of that truth you are storing out to someone who needs to hear it! That’s everyone you meet! Even other "Christians"!
Do you have hope? Then the world needs to hear why! You may say, “but Mike I just can’t”…and I’ll say “sure you can”. Just ask Holy Spirit which person needs to hear, then take that person out for coffee, or lunch, or send them a letter/email/text. They are blinded by the devil. The gospel preached and shared is what removes the veil over their eyes. We are bold as a lion with the Lion of Judah living on the inside of us! Just tell your good news story and watch what God will do!
What is the key to sharing your story? “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord”. The Lord said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”. It’s time we be doers of the word! Start this week, and send me your stories of how Jesus removed satan’s veil and let the light shine in.
Have a fruitful week!!!
