Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done

“He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His ancestor David.

And He will reign over Israel forever; His Kingdom will never end!” (Luke 1:32-33)

 Hello Victorious Ones,

Are you getting tired of seeing the enemy win? Another cancer diagnosis, more scenes of war on the television, the Jews still a hated people, evil and death all around us. The world is ugly! Friends, these are valid feelings if we keep looking at the state of the world around us and our television screens. But…we are not of the world! Christmas is exactly one month away, the annual reminder that Christ changed everything! In the same way that Heaven burst into Mary’s life over 2000 years ago when the angel announced she would give birth to the King of kings, so we in Christ have had the revelation that the King is coming to set up His kingdom, a kingdom that will endure forever. If we have been born again by the Spirit of God (John 3:3-7), we are part of that kingdom now (Col. 1:13), and the King’s rule has already started in our life, if we let Him be Lord (Luke 6:46). Because of Jesus, this is not our home, we’re only here for a short time, not necessarily a good time, and one day we will experience the fullness of His kingdom, which means no more death, nor pain, nor suffering, nor war, nor evil (Rev. 21:4). Friends, this is our destiny if we be truly in Christ/Messiah – the One of whom the prophets spoke:

NKJ Micah 5:2 " But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting."

NKJ Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.

NKJ Zechariah 9:9 " Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation

NKJ Daniel 7:13 " I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.  Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

NKJ Psalm 2:6 "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion."  "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.  Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

I could fill pages with prophecies of the coming King who will come to set up His kingdom to rule and reign forever and ever. God said it …He will do it! Believe it! It’s our only hope! The world hates the idea that Jesus will be king because they have the devil as their ruler (Eph. 2:2; 2Cor. 4:4; John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11). The world also hates Zionists because Zionists believe that the Messiah will come and rule His people from Mount Zion (Jerusalem, the City of David) as King (Psa. 48:2; Micah 4:7). God will have a people made of both Jews and Gentiles who will worship their King and serve Him forever. This is what the angel of God declared to Mary:

He will be very Great

He will be called Son of the Most High

God will give Him the throne of David

He will reign forever

His kingdom will never end

Saints of the Most High, if God said it…He will do it! No matter what the world looks like right now! Celebrating Christmas is celebrating God’s plan to set up His King on Mount Zion – the birth, death, resurrection and ascension of King Jesus is proof that God will accomplish His purposes. He prophesied the arrival of the King…He came. He has prophesied the future reign of the King…He is reigning and will reign! His kingdom is here; it came in with the King. If you have pledged allegiance to Him as Lord, then He is your King and you are reigning and will reign with Him forever, if you endure (2Tim 2:11-12; Rev. 5:10; Rev. 20:6; Rev. 22:5). You are more than a conqueror through Christ!

It is so interesting to me that Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven Jesus is victorious King, sitting on His throne at the right hand of God, and we are seated in Him (Eph. 1:20, 2:6). Is it possible that Jesus wants us to live in the reality that the Kingdom is already here, He is already King, and we have already begun to reign with Him? What would it mean if Jesus were now my King and I was totally surrendered to His service now? Is it feasible that I could have a taste of heaven now in my life with victory over sin, and death, and disease, and pain? Momentary afflictions (2Cor. 4:17) with momentary relief make me long for the fulfillment and fullness of the kingdom to come when sickness and pain are gone forever. Seeing in part now puts a desire in me to fully know all of it, when I will see my King face to face (1Cor. 13:12). Just as Mary had a taste of heaven when the angel burst into her life as heaven peeled back to let the Son of God into her womb, so we through Christ have had more than a glance of heaven and the Kingdom when Jesus the King took residence in our hearts. Now we long for the fullness of the promise of the kingdom where pain, death and suffering are a thing of the past (2Cor. 5:1-8). Christmas is indeed a time for the believer and indeed the whole world to declare, “Thy Kingdom Come”:

Joy to the world the Lord is come let earth receive her king

Joy to the world the Savior reigns let men their songs employ

He rules the world with truth and grace and makes the nations prove the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love

Let us live like Jesus is truly our King, and the kingdom is actually here, all the while waiting for the full realization of the promise!

Peace and Joy!
